When I started Yes, Chef! Behind the Apron™️, I thought I was creating a portrait and storytelling project.
I knew there were powerful stories behind the people who work in hospitality, and I wanted to give those stories a place to be seen.
But somewhere along the way, the mission became bigger.
The more people shared with me, the more I realized this could not stop at storytelling.
Today, Yes, Chef! Behind the Apron™️ is growing into a trusted support network for hospitality professionals—one focused on mental-health access, community, early intervention, and real pathways to care.
We have already supported more than 100,000 meals, connected more than two dozen hospitality professionals with therapy and support, shared the stories of more than 60 hospitality professionals, completed three Aprons Off! retreats, and placed resources directly into hospitality workplaces.
And recently, a restaurant reached out because one of their cooks was struggling and needed mental-health help. They knew to call us. We were able to connect them with support right away.
That moment stayed with me.
Because that is exactly what I want Yes, Chef! to become.
A place hospitality professionals know they can turn to before they reach a breaking point.
Through 1,000 Doors, Aprons Off!, our mental-health partnerships, and continued outreach, we are building something that goes beyond awareness.
We are building connection. Access. Trust. Support.
The photographs opened the conversation.
Now we are building the safety net.
And this next chapter is just beginning.
